Sigacik is located to the south of Izmir and is a place where nature, history, and sea come together to promise peace to its visitors all year long and the first “Slow City” (Citta slow) of Turkey and the 121st in the world. The streetlamps are solar-powered, local seeds are grown and nets are used instead of nylon bags in its market where local goods are sold.
The restaurants of the district that offers very clean coasts offer the local delicacies unique to Sigacik, and you can find homemade fresh and natural products in the market that is set up inside the Sigacik Castle every Sunday.
Teos antique site, which is located 2 kilometers to Sigacik is one of the oldest and most important historical remains in the district. Teos was one of the 12 Ionian cities and was established by the Achaean General Athames around 1080 B.C.
Now it is time to have lunch in a local fish restaurant with local mezza and food.
After lunch, we will drive to Urla which is one of the amazing parts of the Aegean with its 40-kilometer coastline, clean sea, great nature, and historical sites.
After excavations, it was discovered that Limantepe Tumulus in İskele Quarter dates back to 4000 B.C. Limantepe, the oldest port in the Aegean Sea and Clazomenae, known for its olive oil production in the antique age, are two important sites in Urla.
After a short walk in Urla Iskele, we will visit the Under Water Museum and proceed to one of the most famous wine yards.
When the subject is viticulture for wine production, Urla is one of the premier spots in Turkey; a country only third in overall grape production of the world! In the fertile soils of the region, besides internationally known grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, San Giovese, Nero D’Avola; Anatolian varieties such as Bogazkere, Sultana and the local Bornova Muscat are popularly grown.
All these vineyards which some are 6000 years old are proof of historical abundance and productivity.
With new wineries such as Limantepe and Urla Bagevi, Urla is soon to be the number one Boutique Wine Destination in Turkey. Urla Wine Route and its associates are welcoming you to discover the region, its natural beauty, and internationally acclaimed delicacies.
End of the tour we will transfer you to your Izmir Hotel.
